Your Wedding or Special Event at Trinity by-the-Sea

Trinity by-the-Sea Episcopal church is a beautiful place for a wedding. The tropical outdoor setting, the vestments and the traditional Episcopal Church setting form the ideal merger of the familiar church environment and the exotic tropical beauty of Maui.

This Sacred Place
Trinity by-the-Sea asks you to respect our customs and traditions in the use of our church. We hold this to be a sacred place and we trust that you will treat it with due respect and reverence.

Photographs and Videos
The wedding service is primarily a religious service. Photos may be taken, but not in ways that interfere with that primary purpose. Photographers and videographers will do their work under the direction of the priest performing the ceremony, Posed pictures may be taken after the ceremony.

Music and Audio
Trinity by-the-Sea has a professional grade sound system with electric organ/piano, amplifiers, wireless handheld and lapel microphones. Audio services, and the services of our music director may be available for a fee.

Church, Parish Hall and Grounds
Trinity by-the-Sea requires that wedding parties leave the church and grounds in the same or better condition than when the party arrives. To this end, no rice or glitter will be thrown. Kilolani Hall may also be available for public or private meetings or gatherings. The hall has commercial-grade appliances and facilities to meet your needs. As with the sanctuary, use of Kilolani Hall will be in accordance with the rules and guidelines defined by the church.

Fees
All fees, including use of the sanctuary, priest stipend, use of Kilolani Hall, kitchen and equipment and audio equipment will be determined based on the services required by each wedding. Please discuss these matters with Father Austin, (808) 879-0161

HAWAIIAN SERVICE
In appreciation of the life and work of Reverend Malo and out of respect for the largely Hawaiian congregation who labored to build the Church, the service on the first Sunday of every month is given primarily in Hawaiian.

The Hawaiian service begins with the ke kani o ka pu, the sound of the conch shell. The oli wehe, the chant that calls the people to worship, is chosen from Biblical verses appropriate to the liturgical season. The Altar is flanked by red and gold kahilis, symbols of royalty that remind us of King Kamehameha IV, Alexander Liholiho and Queen Emma, who welcomed the Anglican Church to Hawaii in 1862 and generously supported the Church during their reign. The music often includes such well-loved, old Hawaiian hymns as Nu Oli, Glad Tidings, Ke Akua Mana E, How Great Thou Art, and Queen Liliuokalani's beautiful, Ka Pule o Ali'i Wahine, "The Queen's Prayer."

In the shade of palms and kiawe trees, within the open air precincts of David Malo's Kilohana Church, services are held on Sundays at 9:00AM. All are welcome.
